Charles was born on October 10th, 1886.  Charles' father was John Embry Spencer and his mother was Laura Ann Dodd.  His paternal grandparents were William Spencer and Sophia Claycomb; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Thompson Dodd and Manerva Jane Holbrook. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Freddie, Eddie, Ella, Flora, Jessie and Fanny.  He died at the age of 56 on January 30th, 1943.
