Richard was born in 1813.  Richard's father was Thomas Herron and his mother was Agnes Johnson. He had six brothers and three sisters, named John, James, Thomas, Hugh, William, Samuel, Elizabeth, Jane and Agnes.  He was the youngest of the ten children. He had two half-sisters named Margaret and Mary.  He died at the age of 72 in 1885.
