Jennet was born in 1826.  Jennet's father was James Douglas Herron and her mother was Rebecca Young.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Herron and Agnes Johnson. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named James, William, Howard, Nancy, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Mary, Margaret, Jeannette and Eliza.  She was the oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 6 in 1832.
