James Douglas Herron

James was born on January 26th, 1798. James' father was Thomas Herron and his mother was Agnes Johnson. He had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, Hugh, William, Samuel, Richard, Elizabeth, Jane and Agnes. He was the third oldest of the ten children. He had two half-sisters named Margaret and Mary. He died at the age of 76 on October 21st, 1874.

General Notes
- Born in South Carolina. He moved from Butler County, Ohio to Montgomery County, Indiana in 1825, setling in Ripley Township where he entered land as of October 14, 1825, later moving to a larger acreage adjoining Crawfordsville on the south. Here he lived until his death. He married Rebecca Young of Butler County, Ohio in 1825, bringing her on horseback ove Indian trails to the new Farm church to the First Presbyterian Church, Crawfordsville, Ridge Farm church was in Ripley Township near their first home.
